Ghosts of Gettysburg
Wow! So, two of our members participated in a Ghosts of Gettysburg walking tour on Carlisle St. in Gettysburg, Pa. What an amazing tour it was. Our guide, Annie, led the tour dressed in a Civil War era dress. She guided the group of approximately 15 people of all ages down Carlisle St, and stopping at some haunted locations along the way. Her knowledge of not only haunted history, but of Gettysburg history was amazing. Despite the loud traffic, and crowds of people passing by, Annie captivated her guests with eerie ghost tales of Gettysburg's haunted history. She told of soldiers who can still be seen wandering where their bodies have died, but their souls lived on. She told of a young woman who jumped to her death from the bell tower at the university, and still looks for her lover from the very bell tower where her life tragically ended. The bell happened to toll while the tour group passed by. She shared the chilling tale of the blue boy. My personal favorite story was of two administrative workers who were using the elevator in one of the campuses buildings. On it's own the elevator went to the basement. When the door opened the two women saw a terrifying scene of a field hospital The basement was used as a temporary hospital during the battle. The women saw soldiers suffering from war injuries, and being operated on. Most frightening part of the story was of a surgeon who signaled to the ladies to come off the elevator as if to assist! There were plenty more stories, but I won't spoil the whole tour.
Another bright spot was the fact Annie encouraged people to take photos while the tourist explored beautiful Gettysburg. You never know when a spirit will pay a visit. Of course, being a paranormal enthusiast I couldn't resist! Here are three interesting pictures. Have a look and share what you think.
Reflections of light? Something paranormal?
All in all I loved Gettysburg. I loved the museums, the shops, the tours. If you ever get the chance you need to go. I learned so much about the battle, and the haunted history of the beautiful town. I have gained a new appreciation of the sacrifice of the thousands and thousands who gave their lives for their cause. If you do a hunted tour I highly recommend Ghosts of Gettysburg. Ask for Annie's tour!
Happy Memorial Day, Friends!
