Devil's Hole review

Well folks, our investigation of Devil's Hole/Niagara gorge in Niagara Falls, NY is complete. We learned a lot as a group while conducting this investigation. For example, you can never be too prepared, and sometimes when it comes to equipment less is more!

Our investigation started on a very hot July evening. The air was heavy and humid. We didn't waste much time heading to the sight, which we've visited countless times in the past. Focusing the majority of our efforts on outdoor investigations, we carry most of our gear in packs for convenient travel and storage. We soon found out there is no need to bring more gear than needed. Within an hour of the investigation the weight of our equipment, and the typical hot weather made for a very uncomfortable evening. All that was really needed for an investigation like this was an EMF detector, DVR, digital camera, and laser grid for cave exploring. Needless to say I brought much more than that. While I'm on the subject of preparedness, we were also unprepared with a trusty map. Since we've all grown up in the Niagara we went on our knowledge of the area. We soon found ourselves very lost with the sun setting, and storm clouds rolling in. Made for a good story I suppose. Anyway enough of the boring mishaps, let us discuss the paranormal.

Within 2 hours of the investigation we were walking down a path which seemed very ordinary. In that area the EMF detector began to show maximum readings up to 10. Earlier in the investigation we were getting high readings as well, which we discovered to be nearby power lines. In this area though it was very far from any source of man made power. I began to take many pictures. As I began doing so, the cameras battery began to drain at an alarming rate. After spending awhile there we decided to move on. We went further and further down the gorge. Our investigation soon turned into more of a hike and less an investigation, as the trail became very difficult to travel. As the sun was setting we were forced to head back. This made for a dark walk back. Perfect for paranormal investigating in my opinion.

Within about 1 1/2 hour walk back we came across the spot where we got the high EMF readings. I don't know if it was me having those "feelings" because I knew where we were, or if it was legitimate. Anyway, I began to snap pictures like a madman. This time my battery did not drain. We failed to get any solid EMF readings as well. However, upon review of the photos took at this time, one stuck out as questionable. The picture in question is shown above. There appears to be a blue "mist" in the trees to the left of the picture. Mind you, I took about 50 pictures in this area and this is the only one to show anything questionable. It has best been described by Laurie as a "ethereal mist". In our discussion of this investigation the question came up as to why a lot of evidence in the paranormal world manifests in blue, assuming this is in fact something paranormal, and not something natural.

All in all this proved to be a great investigation. We learned a lot , will continue to grow as paranormal investigators. Please feel free to share your thoughts on this picture, or anything else. Our next trip will be exploring a portion of the Erie Canal which we have received reports of paranormal happenings. Keep checking in for updates, and visit our Facebook page, facebook.com/nopwny. Thanks for reading, and have a fantastic (remainder) summer.
