Cold Springs Cemetery

A place in Niagara County that is a magnet for paranormal investigators is Cold Springs Cemetery in Lockport. An obvious reason that draws paranormal fans in is the story of the hitchhiker. Legend tells of a young lady who is hitchhiking along the road in front of the cemetery, and when she is picked up she vanishes. Not an impressive story in my opinion. Sorry.

We have investigated this cemetery a number of times in the past, and will most likely investigate many more times in the future. You may be asking why we would investigate if we don't buy into the legend, and have yet to produce any significant evidence of paranormal activity? The answer is simple my friends! History. Walking around the cemetery is like walking through history. Birdsill Holly is buried there. He invented the first pressurized fire hydrant. There are early settlers of the city, like Lyman and Amy Spalding. Also the amount of war veterans. There is Lt. J Louis Atwood who served in the Union army and died in Virginia. One of my favorites, Rev. Silas Parsons. Rev. Parsons lived from 1761-1839 and served in the American Revolution! Just think, a man who had a hand in building our country buried right in Lockport. Just amazing to me. There are many more graves worth checking out. I think history is in most paranormal investigators hearts. A lot of what we do is trying to connect to history and to the past.

If you get a free afternoon I encourage you to take a trip to Cold Springs and have a look around. Bring your camera for the scenery, and who knows what else! Share your thoughts about this lovely place. Thanks for reading.
